Update from the Board: 2025 UTO Grant Awards

United Thank Offering

By Rowan Larson (they/them), Vice President for Grants

On behalf of the Grants Committee of the United Thank Offering, I am delighted to announce that our awards list for the 2025 grant cycle has been approved by Executive Council and is ready to be released to the wider church!

The Grants Committee hoped that The Episcopal Church and the Anglican Communion would submit innovative proposals for ministries with water as a central theme or concern based on Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 25:35. We were not disappointed!

In 2025, UTO will grant a total of $1,079,748.37 to 27 grant sites across the world. The average amount funded is $39,549.52. This year, the largest award is for $82,000 to the Diocese of Western Louisiana to construct a public water purification and filling station for a town where most residents lack clean, safe drinking water. The smallest grant award is to the Episcopal Diocese of Colorado, where they will host time at a local laundromat to allow those in need access to machines to wash their clothes, along with translators and others to support the growing immigrant community near the church.

I am grateful for my own safe, clean, running water here in Montana, a land where water is scarce and often a source of conflict. I hope that you will be inspired by this year’s grant awards to reflect with gratitude for a moment the next time you fill up a cup from the tap.
