We invite you to join us as we share new prayers each week for the vulnerable among us facing challenges, fears, and threats. We will name many of the harms unfolding around us and acknowledge what is being erased, lost, and threatened. 

Please join us in prayer and share these prayers with your dioceses and parishes. 

We are one church united in prayer, naming reality in the face of lies, creating space for grief in the face of denial, and freeing space in our souls for hope. We gather to be the body of Christ for one another—bearing one another’s burdens—and pointing the world to the cross and its redemptive power already at work through our witness (even when it may not feel like it).   

These prayers are not a replacement for action; they offer grounding and space to discern what actions each of us feel compelled to take. We may feel called to meet with or contact our elected officials, participate in community organizing, provide services to those in our communities, or join in protests or acts of civil disobedience.

Prayers for the week of June 13

For the Honoring of Names and Identities 

Loving God, your Son Jesus Christ revealed your boundless love to all, especially the vulnerable and misunderstood. Teach us to love beyond bias, and to stand with those whose identities are denied. Help us honor each person’s name, identity, and truth, especially our LGBTQ+ siblings who face erasure and dehumanization each day. Strengthen our commitment to uphold the dignity of every human being. In the name of Christ, who walks with the outcast. Amen. 

For Families Separated by Borders 

God of every land and people, your kingdom knows no borders, and your love knows no bounds. Many ache with the pain of separation, kept from loved ones by policies and distance. Comfort those whose families can’t connect physically and those who must choose between staying and going. Be near to all who wait for reunions that feel far away. Holy God, send your Spirit to help us tear down the walls we have built, and lead us toward a world where no one is exiled from love. We ask this in your name and through your boundless mercy. Amen. 

For Those Living in Fear of Deportation 

God of exile and homecomings, you led your people through the wilderness and taught us that welcoming the stranger is an act of kindness and love. We pray for all who live in fear of Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids, detention, and deportation. We grieve the heavy-handed response to largely peaceful protests, and the weaponizing of institutions meant to protect. In your mercy, shield the vulnerable from unjust laws and misuse of power. Strengthen our resolve to stand with immigrants and refugees, not out of partisanship, but as followers of the Risen Christ, whose kingdom knows no border. Through your Spirit, make us agents of justice and peace. Amen. 

For Those Affected by the Loss of Humanitarian Funding 

God of mercy and justice, we lift before you the pain caused by U.S. cuts to United Nations departments and agencies. Empower those who feed the hungry, shelter the displaced, and care for the sick. We echo the vision of the U.N. Declaration of Human Rights that all people are born free and equal in dignity and rights. Strengthen us to continue to serve, and stir us, your church, to defend the vulnerable–not for political gain, but for the sake of your love. May we live our baptismal promises, faithful to your Gospel and bold in justice. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.  

For a World Without Nuclear Fear 

God of peace, with trembling hearts we bring our fear–fear of the growing threat of nuclear weapons and war. We lay this burden at the foot of the cross of Christ, trusting in your power to heal what we cannot control. We give you thanks for those who labor for disarmament, especially the work of the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons and all who dare to imagine a world without nuclear fear. Through your Holy Spirit, make us an instrument of your peace, for the sake of Christ and the flourishing of our world. Amen. 

Oraciones semanales por la política pública y el testimonio

Los invitamos a que se nos unan para compartir nuevas oraciones cada semana por aquellos que son vulnerables entre nosotros quienes enfrentan desafíos, temores y amenazas. Declararemos muchos de los perjuicios que se están fomentando a nuestro alrededor y reconoceremos lo que está siendo anulado, perdido y amenazado. 

Únase a nosotros en oración y comparta estas oraciones con sus diócesis y parroquias. 

Somos una iglesia unida en oración, proclamando la realidad frente a las mentiras, creando espacio para el dolor frente a la negación, y liberando espacio en nuestras almas para la esperanza. Nos reunimos para ser el cuerpo de Cristo ante los demás, llevando las cargas de los demás, y señalando la cruz al mundo y su poder redentor que ya está obrando a través de nuestro testimonio (incluso cuando puede que no se sienta así).   

Estas oraciones no son un reemplazo de la acción; ofrecen la base y el espacio para discernir qué acciones cada uno de nosotros se siente obligado a tomar. Podemos sentirnos llamados a congregarnos o contactar a nuestros funcionarios electos, participar en la organización comunitaria, proveer servicios a los miembros de nuestras comunidades, o unirnos a protestas o actos de desobediencia civil.

Oraciones para la semana del 13 de junio

Por la Honra de los Nombres y las Identidades 

Dios Amoroso, tu Hijo Jesucristo reveló Tu amor ilimitado a todos, especialmente a los vulnerables e incomprendidos. Enséñanos a amar más allá de los prejuicios, y acompañar a aquellos cuyas identidades son negadas. Ayúdanos a honrar el nombre, la identidad y la verdad de cada persona, especialmente a nuestros hermanos LGBTQ+ que enfrentan la anulación y la deshumanización día tras día. Fortalece nuestro compromiso de defender la dignidad de cada ser humano. En el nombre de Cristo, que camina con los marginados. Amén. 

Por las Familias Separadas por Fronteras 

Dios de cada tierra y pueblo, tu reino no conoce fronteras, y tu amor no conoce límites. Muchos se afligen con el dolor de la separación, alejados de sus seres queridos por las políticas y la distancia. Consuela a aquellos cuyas familias no pueden conectarse físicamente y a los que deben elegir entre quedarse o marcharse. Acércate a todos los que afrontan largas esperas para poder reencontrarse. Santo Dios, envía Tu Espíritu para que nos ayude a derribar los muros que hemos construido, y guiarnos hacia un mundo donde nadie sea exiliado del amor. Te pedimos esto en Tu nombre y a través de Tu misericordia infinita. Amén. 

Por aquellos que viven con miedo a la deportación 

Dios del exilio y de los regresos a casa, guiaste a Tu pueblo a través del desierto y nos enseñaste que darle la bienvenida al extraño es un acto de bondad y amor. Oramos por todos los que viven en el temor de las redadas, detenciones y deportaciones del Servicio de Inmigración y Control de Aduanas. Lamentamos la dura respuesta a las protestas, en gran medida pacíficas, y la militarización de las instituciones destinadas a brindar protección. En tu misericordia, protege a los vulnerables de las leyes injustas y del mal uso del poder. Fortalece nuestra determinación de apoyar a los inmigrantes y refugiados, no por partidismo, sino como seguidores de Cristo Resucitado, cuyo reino no conoce fronteras. A través de Tu Espíritu, haznos agentes de justicia y paz. Amén. 

Por un mundo sin miedo a la amenaza nuclear 

Dios de paz, con corazones temblorosos traemos ante Ti nuestro temor: El miedo a la creciente amenaza de las armas nucleares y la guerra. Ponemos esta carga al pie de la cruz de Cristo, confiando en su poder para sanar lo que no podemos controlar. Te damos las gracias por quienes trabajan en pro del desarme, especialmente por la labor de la Campaña Internacional para Abolir las Armas Nucleares y por todos los que se atreven a imaginar un mundo sin temor nuclear. Por Tu Espíritu Santo, haznos un instrumento de Tu paz, por Cristo y el florecimiento de nuestro mundo. Amén. 

Por los afectados a causa de la pérdida de fondos humanitarios 

Dios de misericordia y justicia, elevamos ante Ti el dolor causado por los recortes estadounidenses a los departamentos y agencias de las Naciones Unidas. Empodera a aquellos que alimentan a los hambrientos, albergan a los desplazados y cuidan de los enfermos. Hacemos eco de la visión de la Declaración de los Derechos Humanos de la ONU en el sentido de que todas las personas nacen libres e iguales en dignidad y derechos. Fortalécenos para seguir sirviendo, y anímanos, a Tu iglesia, para defender a los vulnerables, no por ganancia política, sino por el bien de Tu amor.
